…where I can log actions on my computer?
Having JouleBug as a desktop option changes the dynamic and purpose of the app. People use their computers for work, they use their phones for snapping pics, texting friends, and checking Instagram. We want to connect with the fun, the social, and the mobile part of people’s lives, and not have JouleBug feel like an extension of their work on their computer. We have found that making our app genuinely fun makes it easier to get folks started on their sustainability/well-being journey and stick with their new and positive behavior changes.
…for people without smartphones?
Today, smartphones are more affordable, available, and mainstream than ever before. Those that have yet to join the party are most likely not lagging for economic reasons, but rather are hesitant to join the masses in their smartphone obsession. We have no problem with these people, however, we do not think that a desktop version of JouleBug is the answer for them. Those that do not want to participate in the culture or technology of smartphones will most likely not want to participate in mobile-centric challenges, even if they are available on their computer.
JouleBug is techy, social, and mobile! If people without a smartphone have not been tempted to convert by any of the other many mobile apps, conveniences, or tools offered on smartphones, then they will most likely not be interested in JouleBug in any form. They are not our target audience/customer/engager (and that’s okay).
